Overview of the Labs

Lab 1 Overview

This Lab starts by introducing the programme to the participants and spending time getting to know each other. The theme for the Lab is ‘looking outwards’ and the resources available concentrate on the role of research in society (particularly in the media and policy formation).

There are Word documents, PowerPoint presentations and video resources available for this Lab.

The summary below gives an overview of the material available for this Lab in the order it is used in the programme. A detailed suggested programme is available in this section for either a 3-day or 2-day Lab.

The items below are a necessary/required part of this Crucible (whether it is run over two days or three days):

  • An introduction to Crucible (with PowerPoint).
  • Ice breaker.
  • Poster.
  • Interdisciplinarity in research (with PowerPoint).
  • Media engagement (with PowerPoint & Video).
  • Public engagement with research (with PowerPoint).
